I have always thought of tattoos as the illustration to the stories of peoples lives. Whether you have a personal meaning behind it or not every tattoo has a story. Even if its a story of how you got it. There is always a story. I have 4 tattoos, And very soon I will hopefully have 5. For me each of mine have personal stories behind them. I love everyone of them and don't regret them for a second.
My first tattoo has been taken the wrong way for a very long time. Although I am a very big fan of the tv show Charmed it actually has nothing to do with why I got it. My first tattoo was a Celtic Knot called the triquetra. In the tv show the symbol is a symbol for good witchcraft. It is the symbol that represents the Halliwell family. But the true meaning behind this symbol comes from Catholicism and was later on adopted by Wiiccan religions. The Catholic meaning of the symbol is each point of the knot is the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost. The circle that connects the 3 points is a meaning of long lasting faith. I myself am not Catholic. But my grandmother was Irish and Irish Catholic. So I got it to represent my Irish side. It is located on the inside of my left forearm.
My 3rd tattoo is tiny and simple. It is on the side of my left wrist its so small that my watch covers it up. When I got it done Alex (the guy who did it) referred to it as a cat scratch. It is a small cross. I have always wanted a cross. When I was growing up I had always planned on getting a cross done as my first tattoo. It was supposed to be located on my right shoulder. It also wasn't going to be this small. Funny how things change as we get older. All though my cross is small its meaning is huge and powerful.
My forth and certainty not my last tattoo is the word breathe on the inside of my left wrist. I tend to be a worrier. And the type of person who has to have everything planned out. I make lists of things and even on here I have the quote of the week lined up for each week for the next month. I'm always stressing myself out with the what ifs? And the how can I change this? Questions of life. The breathe is there to remind me to stop and breathe every once in a while. And to enjoy life in the moment. To stop worrying about what if and just live life. Its in two different shades of blue. Because they say blue is the most calming color. dark blue outline and a baby blue fill. Because Baby Blue is my favorite color.
