I am going to get a lot of hate for this. So I will get strait to the point. The book I honestly thought was overrated is 50 Shades of Grey. And its not for the reason people are going to think. Because everything was consensual and if its consensual its not rape. But I will not debate on any of that. The reason I chose it is because I think the writing was a little flat. And with that I'm done talking about it.
This weekend I had some personal family things going on. I didn't post anything other then my Challenge because I wanted to spend time with my family. I did take some Paris In My Pocket pictures. I hope to have those up tomorrow after I'm off work. I wont be off until after 5 so keep an eye out. I also have some other pictures I have taken that I want to add to the my photos section. Sense I haven't updated it in a while. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I will talk to you guys tomorrow.
XO That One Girl A book that makes me laugh is The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare. It is a companion book to the Mortal Instruments series. Bane is one of my favorite characters in the series. The Bane Chronicles is a collection of stories about Bane and his life leading up to the Mortal Instruments series.
This is a hard question for me to answer. Because I tend to try and avoid tragic books. I tend to like books that have little angst as possible. So for this one I wont go for the obvious and chose The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. Although that book is one of the most saddest books I have ever read. I'm going to go with an answer that you probably don't want to read about but it is the truth. So for the book that makes me sad I'm going to go with New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, I think Stephenie is a terrific writer when it comes to emotions. I really felt like you could feel Bella's depredation threw out the whole story. Plus I just really really hate Jacob.
A book that makes me happy... There are a lot different stories that I have read over the years that make me smile. But the one that I chose to write about is The Princess Bride. Cause honestly its hard not too. I challenge anyone to read this book and not smile or laugh. I swear it will be the hardest thing you do *at that time* I also have a lot of memories surrounding this story, When ever I read it, it brings all those memories back. Which also makes me smile.
For those of you who didn't read yesterdays challenge it was for me to talk about my favorite book series. Which is Harry Potter. My favorite book in the series hands down has to be The Goblet Of Fire. I think I have reread that book more times then I have any of the others. In fact I have read it so many times that the spine is compleatly wrecked. To the point were you cant even read the title. The thing I love about The Goblet Of Fire is that you got to see whole new side to the series. I loved getting to learn about the fact that there are more Wizarding schools then just Hogwarts. I also liked the different sides you got to see of the characters . Like how Ron feels about being the sidekick. And Hermione and her first boyfriend. I loved the triwizard tournament as well. The 3rd task has to be my favorite. I really wish they could have put more of the maze in the movie. But that's a conversation for another time.
Weekly reminder that the top 5 is never in any particular order. 1. When your holding your till in your hand and someone asks "Are you open?"
2. When people move your closed sign over so that they can get in your line. Then claim they didn't see it. 3. When your getting the change out of the till and then they say "Oh I have such and such change." 4. When your belt is full of stuff and they get mad cause you cant move it forward. 5. When your given a 100 in the early am and they are annoyed that you cant break it. I have had a massive case of writers block lately. I get bursts of inspiration then when I sit down to write it all out. I get stuck. I either can't find a way to start. Or else I do start something and I can't finish it. So I went looking for different ways to overcome this massive block in my mind. And I found a bunch of really great writers prompt ideas/challenges. That are designed to help you start writing again. I have decided to do some of them just to see if they will help. Most of them are prompts where you get a topic or a sentence and you write for 10 minutes on it. I want to share them with you. Maybe not all of them. But the ones I feel are worthy of someone else reading. This wont be a weekly thing like Writers Prompt Tuesday or anything like that. It will be when I feel like it thing. So with out any further Blah Blah Blah... Lets get to the prompt I want to share with you all today. Josslyn sat on the train staring out the window. She watched as country side flew by. All though the train ride from her mother's flat in London to her fathers house in Wakefield had a pretty view. It was lacking in anything fun. She felt as though the train wasn't going to get there in the two hours time her mother had promised. At this rate she would be lucky to even get there before her 17th birthday. Which wasn't even for another 2 years. After a while she got sick of looking out the window. So she put her ear buds in turned on her favorite song and closed her eyes.
Josslyn thought she had only closed her eyes for a few minutes. But when she opened them again it was to the conductor gently shaking her awake. "Miss your stop is next." He had said. Josslyn thanked the man and started gathering her things. As she reached over to grab her backpack she noticed something. A leather boned notebook with a single leather tassel wrapped around what looked like a metal button keeping it closed. Curious she picked it up and looked at it. On the back of the notebook there was a single heart shape with the letter M woven into it. She quickly looked around the train car she was in, There weren't many people in her car. An elderly couple sat the right of her and a small family sat near the back. When she had fallen asleep there had been nobody sitting beside her. "Excuse me sir?" Josslyn polity called to the conductor as he came back threw, "Yes miss? Do you need anything?" He replied. "No thank you. I was just wondering. Um if you could um tell me maybe who was sitting next to me today?" knowing her mother had asked him to keep an eye on her. She figured he must have seen who ever this notebook belonged to. "I'm sorry miss but there has been nobody sitting next to you today." He looked at her with a concerned look. "Are you sure?' Josslyn asked. "Because I found this notebook in this seat next to me. And its got to belong to somebody." The conductor looked at the notebook and shook his head. "I haven't seen anyone with a notebook like that." Just then the train started to slow. "Better get your things. This is your stop." The conductor said. Josslyn opened up her backpack and put the leather notebook inside. For the rest of the afternoon the notebook remained in Josslyn's backpack in her room, Out of site but not forgotten. No matter what she did she couldn't stop thinking; Who did the notebook belong to? What did the M stand for? Why was it next to her on the train? Why didn't anyone see who the notebook belonged to? And the most important question of all, What is inside? So the first chance she got she snuck away to her room. Josslyn grabbed her backpack from under her bed. She sat down on her bed and pulled the notebook out of her bag. Taking a deep breath she untied the leather tassel and opened the notebook. She wasn't prepared for what she was about to read. Josslyn, I'm sorry we weren't able to meet on the train. I didn't want to wake you. But one day I promise we will meet. Maybe not now but someday soon. Until then I am leaving you my notebook. Until we are able to meet I wan't you to fill these pages with what ever your heart diereses. There are more notes threw out the pages. Please don't skip ahead to read them. I wan't you to find them as you write. Until next time. -M I have read quit a few book series in my life. But none of them can compare to the love that I have for the Harry Potter series. I know what your thinking its such a cliche answer. That I should have picked something else. But I don't want to pick anything else. I have talked about my love for Harry Potter numerous times on this blog. Babbled on and on about it with a lot of you in person as well. When Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was first released I was 11 years old. And at the time I actually refused to read it. I honestly didn't think I would like it at all. So I literally refused to read it. For more on that you can click here. The thing I love about the Harry Potter series is that it is for everyone. No matter how old you are. Or whether you like magical, action packed, romance or family orientated books. You will find something to love in the Harry Potter series. Each of the 7 books holds different memories for me. Memories of what was happening in my life at the time I first read them. There aren't many books where you can look at them and remember what was going on in your life at the exact moment you were reading it. I don't have kids yet but when I do you can bet they will grow up with Harry Potter in their lives as well.
